Even as an NIA investigation continues into the November 10 car blast in Delhi, fresh reports suggested on Friday that Dr Umar Un Nabi, the man who drove the explosive-laden vehicle, assembled the bomb at a public parking space near the Red Fort.
In a key revelation in the Delhi blast case, investigators have found that Umar Mohammed alias Umar un-Nabi, who triggered the car blast near the iconic Red Fort, assembled the explosive in a public parking spot near the monument.
New Delhi: Investigating agencies examining the Delhi car blast that killed 13 people and injured many have concluded that accused Mohammad Umar, also known as Umar un Nabi, assembled the explosive inside his vehicle while parked near the Red Fort, according to a report by NDTV.
Umar Mohammed assembled a bomb in a Red Fort parking spot before detonating it on Netaji Subhash Marg, killing 13 and injuring 20, after fearing arrest of his associates.
The NIA is also examining a new angle, whether Umar Un Nabi acted as a “shoe bomber.” The pattern resembles the 2001 case of Richard Reid, the terrorist who tried to detonate a bomb hidden in his shoes on an American Airlines flight.
Through forensic investigation, the NIA has identified the driver who was in the car at the time of the blast.
