The man accused of shooting prominent Oakland coach and "Last Chance U" star John Beam had his first court hearing Tuesday morning.

John Beam's legacy, captured in part on Netflix's "Last Chance U," is in the lives of the players he coached over a 45-year career on the field.

The police is a split from DA Ursula Jones Dickson’s predecessor, who circulated a memo saying that probation should be the “presumptive” offer during plea negotiations.
