The FAA issued a regional ground stop for Dallas Fort Worth International Airport until 11:15 a.m. CST. Any flights departing for DFW from the impacted airports will be delayed at least until the ground stop expires. The order applies to most of the southeastern and southwestern U.S., including major hubs Atlanta, Charlotte and Phoenix.
The bulk of the rain is expected to fall on Thursday and Friday, but it could continue into Saturday, particularly in San Diego. There, the storm could linger and bring additional rounds of rain because of what meteorologists call “wraparound moisture,” which is additional precipitation that arrives on the back end of a storm.
Unrelenting rain is expected to persist in the Bay Area as two back-to-back storm systems close in on the region this week, accompanied by up to 60 mph wind gusts, possible thunderstorms, landslides and flooding.
